ABOUT US

In 1929, Harold and Frances Walden were employees of Seehawk Photography in downtown Waterloo. They scraped together what funds they could and purchased Seehawk Photography and added a portrait studio. Over the next 30 years, Harold Walden earned a fine reputation as the Cedar Valley’s leading commercial photographer, as well as, the valley’s expert black and white photo finisher. He spent many a days shooting for John Deere, Rath Packing and many other local manufacturing facilities. Then in 1957, Harold needed to diversify, as his sons were going to join the business. Bob took over the commercial photography business while Harold and his younger son, Dick, concentrated on adding to their retail business.

Over the next 40 years, Bob and Dick grew the business within the Cedar Valley and beyond. They added another location in Ames in the early 1970’s and a Cedar Falls location in 1989. Walden Photo now has three locations concentrating on all facets of photography.

Walden Photo is now operated by the third generation of the Walden family. David Walden, who operates the Ames location and his cousins, Dick and Mike Walden, who run the Waterloo and Cedar Falls facilities. Walden Photo is committed to providing exceptional value to our customers including photographic memories, products and imaging technologies. Walden Photo will provide state-of-the-art products, services and knowledge with old-fashioned personal relationships.

Walden Photo now covers just about everything photographic from darkroom supplies to digital printers, frames and albums to software, fully manual slr cameras to professional digital cameras and beyond.
